Covered California to shut down online enrollment for a couple days
Covered California will shut down its online enrollment system Nov. 16 for up to two days while it adds the new small employer marketplace to the program.
The system will face another temporary shutdown beginning Jan. 1 for up to four days while it links to the Medi Cal program and makes other upgrades. Nov. Nov. 19, a spokeswoman from Covered California said. The January closure could take three or four days. But staff are still evaluating the Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Womens Jersey matter and the lengths of time for both could be shorter, she said.
The shutdowns were discussed in the Covered California board meeting Oct. 24. No formal announcement is expected. Board member Robert Ross suggested one. Executive director Peter Lee said Covered California plans to tell "partners" but won't do a news release as it "has now" been talked about publicly.
Despite first day snafus, Covered California has logged in almost 2.6 million unique visits since open enrollment started Oct. 1.
"Even though Covered California is doing relatively well especially with grading on a curve there's still upgrades to do," said Anthony Wright, executive director at the consumer group Health Access. "It's not our preference to have the system down a day or two, but that's what it takes. We know that from our own personal technology."
Announcing the shutdown "could needlessly alarm folks," Wright Davante Adams Kids Jersey added. "There is a difference between a system crashing and a scheduled time offline for maintenance and upgrades."
Scott Hauge, president of Small Business California, said there was disappointment about the delay of small business enrollment until this month and it's a good thing to get it going.
